DMFI PAC was the largest outside spender supporting Casten
Following Representative Sean Casten’s primary win in Illinois’ 6th Congressional District, DMFI PAC Chairman Mark Mellman released the following statement:
“DMFI PAC was pleased to support Congressman Sean Casten as he soundly defeated anti-Israel incumbent Marie Newman in Illinois’ 6th district. This is a tremendous victory for pro-Israel Democrats who support the Biden-Harris agenda and, frankly, for everyone who cares about restoring integrity and principled leadership in Washington.
“Newman proudly joined a small group in the House that seeks to undermine the U.S.-Israel relationship at every turn. Among her other anti-Israel actions, Newman was one of only eight Democrats who inexplicably voted against replenishing Israel’s defensive Iron Dome system which saves Israeli lives – Jewish and Arab alike.
“What’s more, she faces serious corruption allegations by the Office of Congressional Ethics for allegedly arranging a quid pro quo with a would-be opponent to keep him out of her race. In exchange, she allegedly hired him as a highly-paid adviser and let him dictate her misguided policy positions on Israel.
“We’re proud to have played a central role backing Congressman Casten’s re-election. He’s a fierce fighter for the Democratic agenda and our party’s values. Tonight’s results demonstrate yet again that being pro-Israel is not only wise policy but good politics.”
In IL-06, DMFI PAC was the largest outside spender, boosting Rep. Casten’s re-election campaign with more than $500,000 in targeted spending. DMFI PAC aired ads on cable and broadcast TV, purchased digital and social media ads, and sent direct mail pieces highlighting Casten’s record and educating voters on the corruption allegations against Congresswoman Newman.
DMFI PAC also congratulates its other Illinois endorsees, Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (IL-08) and Nikki Budzinski (IL-13), as well as Colorado State Sen. Brittany Pettersen (CO-07), on their primary election victories. DMFI PAC looks forward to supporting them in the general election.
DMFI PAC has played a vital role in supporting pro-Israel Democrats since its inception, backing President Biden, as well as victors in 83 House and Senate races, last cycle.
