Following the results of the Democratic primary in Virginia’s 10th Congressional District, DMFI PAC Chairman Mark Mellman released the following statement:

“We’re pleased to congratulate Virginia State Senator Suhas Subramanyam on his hard-fought and historic primary victory. We appreciate his commitment to Democratic values and his support for a strong U.S.-Israel relationship.

“Senator Subramanyam was the first Indian-American, the first South Asian, and the first Hindu ever elected to Virginia’s General Assembly.

“By nominating a proud pro-Israel candidate, Democrats in Virginia’s 10th District have proven once again that being pro-Israel is not just wise policy, but also winning politics.

“Our thoughts and prayers tonight remain with Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton as she continues to serve her district and our country while waging a courageous battle with progressive supra-nuclear palsy. She is an inspiration to all of us. Congresswoman Weston endorsed Senator Subramanyam to succeed her.

“We also congratulate Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan (VA-04) for advancing to the General Election. Last year we were honored to support her historic campaign with an independent expenditure program, helping to secure her election as the first Black woman to ever represent Virginia in Congress.”
