In 2020, DMFI PAC was the first pro-Israel organization to endorse his candidacy for President
DMFI PAC, the nation’s largest pro-Israel, pro-Democracy PAC, today announced its endorsement of President Biden for re-election in 2024, citing his administration’s historic achievements, including the creation of 12 million new jobs, the largest infrastructure package since Eisenhower, the second-largest healthcare bill since LBJ, and the largest climate bill ever passed by any country, as well as his steadfast support for the U.S.-Israel relationship.
“In just over two years, the wounds inflicted on this country by the previous administration have begun to heal as President Biden works to restore the soul of America and ensure our democracy remains strong, vibrant, and resilient. Thanks to the leadership of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, this administration has delivered extraordinary results for the American people, rebuilding our economy from the bottom up and the middle out — and with just the slimmest majorities in Congress,” said DMFI PAC Chairman Mark Mellman.
“Just as he has fulfilled his promise to deliver for America’s working families as President, so too has President Biden delivered on his commitment to strengthen the mutually beneficial alliance between the United States and Israel. When it comes to securing America’s place as a leader in cyber security, technology, and climate and energy solutions, we know that the U.S.-Israel relationship is top of mind for President Biden. And when it comes to the unfair demonization and delegitimization of the world’s only Jewish state at home or abroad, Israel has no greater defender than the Biden-Harris administration,” added Mellman. “We look forward to supporting the Biden re-election campaign as we work to elect pro-Israel, pro-democracy Democrats up and down the ballot.”
During the 2020 primary, DMFI PAC was the first pro-Israel organization to endorse President Biden, running TV ads in the primary and general elections that helped him win the Democratic nomination and the White House. DMFI PAC’s efforts are credited with giving the Biden campaign a lift in January 2020, helping him retake the lead and eventually become the Democratic presidential nominee. In the 2021-22 election cycle, DMFI PAC-endorsed candidates won more than 80% of their races, helping bring 21 new pro-Israel Democrats to the 118th Congress. DMFI PAC and its affiliates raised over $12.4 million to support pro-Israel Democrats, and some 77% of its independent expenditure dollars supported candidates of color.
President Biden’s Pro-Israel Record
Since 1973, President Biden has worked with every Israeli leader to strengthen the U.S.-Israel relationship. As President, he has proved his commitment to Israel’s security and the stability of the entire region. In July, President Biden traveled to Israel, describing the relationship between Americans and Israelis as “bone-deep,” and declared, “You don’t need to be a Jew to be a Zionist.”
In 2021, after Hamas terrorists in Gaza launched more than 4,000 rockets into Israel, President Biden clearly reiterated his unwavering support for Israel’s security on a call with the Prime Minister, stating, “Israel has a right to defend itself when you have thousands of rockets flying into your territory.” President Biden called for calm and helped broker a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, which was finalized on May 20th.
Making good on his commitment to Israel’s security, President Biden swiftly signed a $1 billion supplemental funding bill to replenish the depleted Iron Dome defensive missile batteries, on top of the $3.3 billion annual security assistance guaranteed in the ten-year MOU, which he helped negotiate as Vice President. Since entering office, President Biden has worked closely with our Western allies to ensure Iran will never develop nuclear weapons and his administration has reiterated that “all options are on the table” when it comes to halting Iran’s nuclear program.
The Biden-Harris Administration has also worked tirelessly to reduce tensions between Israelis and Palestinians and to reduce terrorist attacks against Israel.
President Biden’s efforts to build on the historic Abraham Accords have led to a number of significant milestones, including Saudi Arabia’s decision to open its airspace to Israel, an agreement between Israel and Lebanon on a longstanding maritime border dispute facilitated by the U.S., and the broadening of the Abraham Accords to include cooperation in cybersecurity.
President Biden and Vice President Harris have also led the fight against an alarming rise in antisemitic acts and hate crimes directed at Jews.
