Reverend Warnock conveyed his support for the U.S.-Israel relationship in a virtual conversation with our leadership
DMFI PAC Chairman Mark Mellman today issued the following statement:
“After a Zoom conversation between our leadership and Reverend Raphael Warnock this afternoon, DMFI PAC is enthusiastically endorsing Rev. Warnock in his campaign against Kelly Loeffler in Georgia. Dr. Warnock is strongly committed to strengthening the U.S.-Israel relationship as well as to achieving social justice, delivering affordable health care for all Americans, and creating opportunity for all to succeed.
“Having served for fifteen years as the Senior Pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta — preaching from the same pulpit as Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. — Rev. Warnock’s values are deeply rooted in his faith. So, too, is his support for Israel and the U.S.-Israel alliance.
“Like Dr. King before him, Rev. Warnock has stated unequivocally that ‘Israel’s right to exist as a state in security is incontestable.’ He also believes, as we do, that the U.S. has a role to play as a partner in encouraging negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians, resulting in a two-state solution.
“As a United States senator, Rev. Warnock has committed to upholding the historic 10-year Memorandum of Understanding negotiated by the Obama-Biden Administration, which secured $38 billion in security aid for Israel, the largest such agreement between our two nations. Reverend Warnock has rightfully condemned the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement for its refusal to acknowledge Israel’s right to exist and its antisemitic overtones.
“In 2015, Rev. Warnock personally invited Israel’s Ambassador to the U.S. to deliver remarks to his congregation during Sunday services. In his introduction, Rev. Warnock described Israel as “one of America’s closest allies and a longtime friend.” Ambassador Dermer called Warnock’s invitation to speak at Ebenezer Baptist Church “the greatest honor that has been bestowed upon me since I became Israel’s Ambassador to the United States.
“We celebrate Rev. Warnock’s historic candidacy and the inspiration he has given to Georgians and all Americans. If elected, Rev. Warnock will be the first Black U.S. senator from Georgia and the first Black Democrat ever elected by popular vote in the South.
“DMFI PAC looks forward to supporting his candidacy in the runoff election on January 5th.”
